Welcome Austrian's and Friends of Austria
Since our founding in 1985, the Austrian Society of Arizona has been more than an organization – it has been a living expression of Austrian culture, community, and connection. Rooted in our mission to foster Austrian art, preserve traditions, and deepen the appreciation of Austria, we continue to build a bridge between heritage and the future.
But our vision goes beyond borders.
The Austrian spirit – our values of culture, craftsmanship, hospitality, and Gemütlichkeit – does not belong to Austria alone. It is something to be shared, carried into the world, and experienced by all who are drawn to it. That is why our Society is open not only to Austrians, but to friends from across the German-speaking world, especially the DACH region – Germany and Switzerland – as well as anyone who simply enjoys Austria, its culture, or its people.
Whether you speak fluent German or just a few words, whether you grew up in Vienna, Zürich, Munich – or right here in Arizona – there is a place for you. Bring your spouse, your neighbors, your friends. Join us to connect, to celebrate, and to keep traditions alive while creating new ones.
For many, our Society is a small piece of home away from home.
At the same time, we are committed to investing in the next generation. Through our annual scholarships supporting students at Arizona State University (ASU) and the SILC program, we actively promote cultural exchange and education. These initiatives are made possible through the dedication of our members, as well as the generous support of our sponsors and donors throughout the year.
As a nonprofit organization, we thrive on participation. Our events, gatherings, and excursions are not only a reflection of our bylaws and purpose – they are the heartbeat of our community. Every member contributes to shaping what this Society is and what it will become.
Together, we carry Austrian culture forward – honoring where we come from, while embracing where we are.
With gratitude and vision,
Michael Haas
